Name/role:

Aleksandr Lazarev

Multidisciplinary Empathic Designer

I’m a designer with over 10 years of experience across visual and product design. My work balances emotion and clarity, intuition and structure — I care about how things look, feel, and function. I value purity, brevity, honesty, and empathy, and I believe design should make people feel something real.

Beyond digital work, I also have a deep connection to physical form — from early projects in graphic design to traditional hand-poke tattooing — experiences that continue to shape my visual language and way of thinking.

Uchi.ru <Feb 2024 – JAN 2025>

Together with a talented product team at Uchi.ru, I helped design and launch the Homework Catalog — a single place where teachers can assign homework in just a few clicks. Previously, this process was scattered across three different tools. We turned it into one smooth and scalable experience.

Early A/B tests were eye-opening: the first version showed a 6% drop in revenue because the time estimate in the homework cart made some teachers hesitate. We removed it, relaunched, and saw a +10% increase in the number of teachers assigning homework, resulting in a +10% lift in revenue per user.

This project was a great example of how small UX details — combined with tight feedback loops and smart teamwork — can lead to real product and business impact.

BCS <Jan 2022 – Feb 2024>

As part of the BCS team, I have focused on improving some of the largest sections of the mobile application. For example, together with the management and product teams, we update the most important part of the application - the buy and sell securities section, and another very large and complex section that I am currently focusing on is technical analysis on charts.

In addition to my main sections that I focus on, I also interact with the other sections and teams to build and improve the best user experience throughout the application.

Lecturer

GeekBrains <Apr 2021 – Aug 2021>

One day the guys at GeekBrains texted me and said they were looking for a teacher for one of their courses. I had been thinking about trying my hand at this for a long time. Firstly, I wanted to test myself, and secondly, to improve my communication and pitching skills, so without thinking twice I agreed.

I did not have my own course, so I acted as a lecturer for a ready-made program and taught aspiring designers how to work in Figma and talk about the basics of design. It was an interesting challenge for me. Within a few months, I was able to teach over 80 students. It was a great experience for me, and I always enjoyed watching the guys progress. I decided to take a break from teaching, but I definitely want to do it again in the future.

WINK.RU <Mar 2020 – Jan 2022>

Wink is one of the most popular video streaming services in Russia.

My main task was to improve the Android TV platform for Wink. While working in the team, I performed a global redesign of the platform, got rid of obsolete elements, created a new component design system, and started to introduce new features.

Designing an interface that was easy to use with the remote was the biggest challenge. I tried to design it so that the content would appear on the screen without having to scroll. It was also important to have a focal point on the screen so that users always knew where they were and where to click.

In addition to working on the Wink app for Android TV, I also worked on updating the design for Apple TV, developing a new personal account, and adapting it for the web version. On top of that, I created a new design for the operating system of the Wink set top box.

R3DS <Jan 2020 – Feb 2020>

Within a month, together with an incredibly talented team of developers, we were able to create a design for the R3DS Track program. I am grateful to the guys for their confidence in me and for the opportunity to be a part of this team.

«R3DS Track is standalone software that works together with R3DS Wrap4D. Its primary purpose is to track markers on an actor’s face and detect lip and eyelid contours using a personalized detector. The program dramatically simplifies and speeds up the processing of 4D sequences. The main idea of R3DS Track is to bring all the labor-intensive work into a 2D space so that you don’t have to sculpt and cleanup models in 3D. You don’t have to be an experienced 3D artist to use it. The results of marker tracking and contour detection are easy to validate and easy to correct.»

MANY OTHERS <Jun 2014 – present>

I have decided not to go into detail about all the places I have worked, so I have tried to list them briefly here.

Graphic design is a big part of my life, so I have worked as a graphic designer both in small studios and as a freelancer. But graphic design is just one part of my life. I have also worked as a product designer for a Spanish financial startup, where I managed to redesign the web version and started designing the mobile app. As a hobby I used to do hand-poke tattoos in old-fashioned way.

Let's get in touch, I am open to offers to participate in your projects.
